Writers
The Literary Department is the first port of call for all work coming into Theatre503. Working closely with the other departments, we read submitted scripts from all sources, form relationships with writers at all levels of experience, and offer dramaturgical support to work that is produced and developed in the theatre.
For the theatre’s main seasons, we actively seek and develop work in house, as well as consider work submitted by other companies.
We also seek to work with writers that may benefit from involvement in any one of our development initiatives, which combined form our Foundations programme.
As part of the Foundations programme, we regularly hold writers’ nights, we run open submission and invited short playwriting nights, programme 503Lab and initiate other writer and theatre led events.
We also run an annual writer attachment programme entitled 503Five.
