SHADOW LANGUAGE

by Kelly Stuart
A world premiere presented by Theatre503 and B29
20 February - 15 March 2008

"It's not quite a voice.  It's a voiceless voice.  It's like a vibration.  And I see the words.  And I taste them on my tongue, in my mouth. I find myself speaking them out loud.   Then I know, I know it's God talking. God and not the devil."

An American woman who has never left Nashville searches Turkey for a deported Kurdish man who has disappeared.
A darkly comic journey through a land where a language is illegal, history is drowned and illusions have to die if you want to survive.

Kelly Stuart's previous credits include the acclaimed Mayhem (Manchester Royal Exchange and New York Summer Play Festival.)
Tim Stark's credits include Festen, Twisted, Rafts and Dreams

"Stuart's funny, demonic writing is all too rare on the British stage." (Financial Times
