FEST: AN ARRANGEMENT OF SHOES

15 July 2010

9.15pm

Having enjoyed a sell-out run at the acclaimed Cock Tavern Theatre in June, Footnote Theatre's production of the award-winning An Arrangement of Shoes makes its way across the river for one night only.

Written by Abhishek Majumdar and recipient of the 2010 TFA new writing award, An Arrangement of Shoes is a moving, personal and energetic one-woman show set in an Indian railway colony. On the eve of her grandfather’s burial, Rukhsar searches through her memories for something that will help her reconnect with her past, her grandfather and . . . his shoes.

Spirited and engaging, Rukhsar brings her home and family to life; in revisiting their shared past she relates an intriguing history - not only her own, but also of the first Gulf War and its wide-reaching consequences.

Touching, inventive and disarming in its warmth and simplicity, An Arrangement of Shoes charts the ebb and flow of love, loss and family ties.
