Driven by her insecurities, Joplin recklessly embraced the spirit of the sixties, becoming one of the most iconic celebrities of her generation. By turns confessional and confrontational, this compelling one-woman play challenges the legend and uncovers the complex, vulnerable woman hiding behind it.
Like her contemporaries Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison, Joplin became a victim of hedonism at the age of 27. On the 4th October 1970, following a successful recording session, she returned to The Landmark Hotel, California, where she injected what would prove to be her final dose of heroin. This is where Janis begins.
